PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
Enhancing Clinical Outcomes in the Initial Three Sessions
About the workshop
This advanced workshop supports therapists to strengthen clinical outcomes by using the first three sessions of therapy intentionally and with confidence.
The training focuses on treatment planning in the early phase of therapy, including informed consent, expectations, boundaries, assessment, and alliance building. It supports clinicians to balance rapport with therapeutic authority, manage client anxiety and misconceptions about therapy, and reduce pressure to move too quickly into intervention.
The workshop also explores how early session structure can support engagement, reduce drop out, and create a strong foundation for repair when ruptures occur later in therapy.
This workshop will support clinicians to:
Develop a clear structure for the first three sessions
Integrate administrative and ethical requirements without overwhelming clients
Strengthen informed consent, client autonomy, and transparency
Set clear expectations about therapy, pace, and outcomes
Align early formulation and intervention with client goals
Create a practical guide for structuring a 50 minute session
