Working with Grief, Loss, and Bereavement in Relationships
Grief and loss can profoundly reshape relationships, often in ways couples do not expect or understand. Partners may grieve differently, at different paces, or in ways that feel invisible to each other. This training supports clinicians to work with grief in a relational context, including pregnancy loss and the impact of ageing or dying parents, without pathologising difference or deepening disconnection.
What you will learn
- How grief and bereavement show up in couple relationships
- Differences in grieving styles and their impact on connection
- The relational impact of pregnancy loss and reproductive grief
- How caring for ageing or unwell parents affects couple dynamics
- How unspoken grief can contribute to conflict, withdrawal, or resentment
- How to support couples to make space for grief while maintaining connection
What is included
- Case examples involving pregnancy loss, fertility challenges, and ageing parents
- Practical tools to support grief conversations between partners
- Frameworks for working with mismatched grief responses
- Guidance on pacing and containment when loss is present
Who is it for
Especially helpful for clinicians working with couples navigating pregnancy loss, bereavement, caring for ageing parents, or unresolved grief that is impacting the relationship.
