As the Practice Director of Mindful Living Counselling and Psychology, I engaged Marie Vakakis to deliver a face-to-face Mental Health First Aid training workshop for our admin team. Marie's training was exceptional. Her expertise and approachable teaching style made the content accessible and engaging. She provided practical strategies that our admin team can now confidently use to support clients in distress, enhancing the overall care we provide. The workshop also fostered a deeper understanding and awareness of mental health issues, which has improved our team's communication and empathy in daily interactions with clients and each other. I highly recommend Marie for her outstanding training and dedication to mental health education.

I engaged Marie to speak with staff at a public select-entry high school on tangible and practical tips on how they can mitigate anxiety in their students. Students are the school are high achieving, but come with a lot of angst and perfectionism that can result in further mental health concerns.
Marie provided a detailed presentation to staff and provided them with a handout of practical tips and conversation starters for teacher sto help their anxious students. She also advised what not to say, and when to refer on.
The staff were extremely satisfied with Marie's presentation, and felt that she talked to them as professionals, building upon the knowledge they already have, rather than starting from extreme basics. The takeaways were the handout, and how to approach/engage an anxious student, and some tips on what to do to ease their concerns.
I would highly recommend Marie for her expertise, insight, professionalism and knowledge on mental health and wellbeing for teenagers.
